Eviction- What is Eviction?

Eviction Resources
The Landlord Tenant Act provides some specific protections to tenants. Though the law was changed recently to provide for these protections, many of the existing leases may not be compliant with the new law. I would suggest that you bring your lease into me for review if you have any questions. If you are in trouble with your lease you many still have a way out. The only thing I suggest not do is to do nothing. This will really harm you.

In an effort to make sure that you are properly informed. I have attached a link to the the Alabama Renter’s Handbook. This should help you understand your lease from your position.

I have had a great deal of success in defending renter’s from unlawful evictions. In one particular case I kept a tenant in possession for 10 months- through five (5) separate eviction proceedings and while the plaintiff had three different attorneys. The rent was $2500 dollars per month so you know that the landload had real heartburn by the time the landlord had possession of the property. In the above illustration, the renter ultimately was forced into bankruptcy so the landlord was completely without recourse to collect the three attorney’s fees the landlord paid to get possession of the property or the twenty-five thousand ($25,000) dollars in unpaid rent.

By the same token if you are a landlord, you do not want someone who is not skilled in landlord tenant law handling your evictions. It can be very expensive in more ways than one. For those of you who are landlords, please see the link to the Alabama Landlord Tenant Act.
